NEW MEMBER PROCESS

Please note - the following information is primarily intended for existing members as a guide to proposing new members. To join Rotary, you must be proposed by an existing member. However, you're welcome to contact us and join us at an upcoming meeting!

• A Rotarian proposes a prospective member to the Club President and presents the prospective member with the following documents:

  1. Member Prospect Form
  2. Rotary Fact Sheet
  3. What’s Rotary wallet card


• When prospective member decides to join and communicates this to the sponsoring Rotarian, the Rotarian will notify the President and fill out the Rotary Membership Proposal Form .

• Rotarian should encourage prospective member to attend regular Rotary Club meetings while application is being processed;

• The President will notify membership of prospective member’s desire to join;

• During the application process, the President and/or Club Membership Chairperson will communicate with prospect about the process and the timeline;

• Once approved, the President and/or Club Membership Chairperson will notify the new member of status of his/her application and invite new member to the next regular meeting. The new member is also told he/she will be presented to the membership and he/she will need to introduce themselves to the membership;

• At the meeting, the new member will be introduced by the sponsoring Rotarian to the membership and given a New Member Packet, which will include:

  1. Board structure
  2. Club roster
  3. Copy of Four-Way Test
  4. Declaration of Rotarians
  5. Topics for mentor to discuss with new member
  6. Club goals/projects


• The new member will introduce himself/herself to the membership;

• The Secretary and Treasurer will be given the name and classification (as determined by the Board) of the new member so that a name tag can be ordered;

• The Publicity Committee Chairperson/Club Membership Chairperson will take a photo of the new member and the sponsoring Rotarian to be placed in The Prattville Progress;

• The new member will be introduced on the Prattville Rotary Club web site as a New Member for the Quarter, as well as in the President’s weekly e-mail update;

• The new member will be assigned a mentor for 3 months. The mentor will be given a list of topics to discuss with the new member throughout the 3-month period to acquaint and educate the new member about Rotary.
